30. Nemanja Maksimović
It’s not often you have to scourge the frontiers of Europe to find promising mediocentros, but at FK Astana, Nemanja Maksimović has proved the opposite. It looks like he’s off to Valencia, and while there’s no doubt about his quality, I’m not sure the dilapidated rattletrap that is Valencia is the right move for anyone. He’s an omniscient controller who has proven his quality in the Europa and Champions League, as well as the 2015 U-20 World Cup, where he scored the winner in the final against Brazil, and perhaps he can save Los Che from falling into irrelevance. Too good for Kazakhstan, Maksimović should have made this move years ago, and his wizardly U-20 performances brought up memories of Yugoslavia’s 1987 victory of the same category, albeit this was with a far less promising group of player. The man to save Cesare Prandelli’s Valencia?
