Should Jude Bellingham Win the Ballon d’Or?
Jude Bellingham may not be achieving the same numbers that Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi pulled off over the past two decades, but what stands out for Bellingham is his sheer determination to succeed, charisma, talent and his potential should never be underestimated.
In Jude’s whole career, this 2023/2024 campaign is his most impressive season in terms of major honours, trophies and numbers. In La Liga alone he played 28 games for Real Madrid, scoring 19 goals and assisting 6 times. One astonishing fact is he played fewer games this season in La Liga than for his previous clubs in recent seasons. If not for underlying factors due to injury, he would have certainly have scored more goals.
He excelled in the UEFA Champions League as well, scoring four goals and five assists in 11 appearances as Real Madrid got their hands on their 15th Champions League title. Bellingham only turned 21 last month, but he nevertheless has enjoyed a stellar campaign that has seen him win the La Liga and Champions League titles as well as the Supercopa de España.
As far as individual silverware goes, Bellingham won the La Liga Player of the Season, the Champions League Young Player of the Season, and was included in the Team of the Season for both competitions. With Kylian Mbappe, Vinicius Junior and Toni Kroos missing out on major international trophies this summer, Bellingham has the chance to deliver England to glory, lead them to a first-ever Euros, and all but confirm his spot as the next Ballon d’Or winner.
