Inter Miami continue to look to make up ground on the other top performing sides in the Eastern Conference after their participation in the Club World Cup. Javier Mascherano’s side still have three games in hand on the sides around them, if they can get maximum points from these games it would put them right back in the heart of the conversation to top the Eastern Conference, as they did last season.
Nashville are one of those sides that currently stand in their way ,they sit second in the Eastern Conference, just one point behind current league leaders Cincinnati. The away side come into this game having won each of their last five matches, suggesting that this will be a tough task for Lionel Messi and his teammates.
Match Stats: Entertaining game in store
These sides faced off four times in 2024, but this is their first meeting of the calendar year. Those four games all saw BTTS, with Inter Miami running out winners in three of those games. However, Inter Miami’s dominance hasn’t been as clear in the Eastern Conference this season as it was last campaign.
Nashville can take advantage of the inconsistency that has been plaguing Inter Miami this season. They’ve remained unbeaten across their last 15 matches in a run that stretches all the way back to April 27th. In this period, they’ve faced top sides like Philadelphia and Columbus, which were games which displayed their ability to go toe-to-toe with some of the more elite sides in the division.
Nashville’s recent form cannot be ignored, it will be a challenge to extend their run of five straight victories against an Inter Miami side that has only lost two games at home this season. Nashville are decent travellers with just three losses from their 10 trips on the road this term but Inter Miami’s record against the travelling side should also be factored in.
Predictions –
- BTTS @ 1.44
- Match Result: Nashville or Draw @ 1.83
Shot Stats: Sam Surridge in imperious form
When assessing potential shot and goal threats in this game, former Nottingham Forest, Stoke and Bournemouth forward Sam Surridge stands out as a player that can hurt the Inter Miami backline.
Surridge has been on fire in the MLS this season, netting 16 goals across his 21 appearances, as well as providing two assists. He’s had 65 shots across these games (3.22 per 90) with 33 of these attempts finding the target (1.63 per 90). He’s Nashville’s top scorer in the MLS and has scored seven goals across his last five appearances in all competitions for BJ Callahan’s side. Surridge has already eclipsed the 12 goals he managed in the MLS last season in seven fewer appearances which would suggest that he’s in a purple patch at the moment that he can look to extend here.
Surridge is also on penalties for Nashville which can offer him another route to goal, five of his 16 goals in the MLS this season have come from the penalty spot. Surridge scored against Inter Miami in one of the four head-to-head meetings between the sides last year, too.
Predictions:
- Sam Surridge 2+ shots on target @ 2.70
- Sam Surridge to score anytime @ 2.63
Card Stats: Inter Miami more likely to pick up cautions
Inter Miami have collected 44 yellow cards across their 18 games in the MLS this season (2.44 per game). As previously mentioned, the inconsistency currently plaguing Inter Miami is leading to frustration which is the most likely explanation for Inter Miami’s card count being quite high at this stage of the season.
By contrast, Nashville have received 35 yellow cards across their 21 games in the MLS this season (1.66 per game), only six sides across both conferences have received fewer cautions than Nashville. The visitors are on a strong run of form and are well priced to pick up a positive result here, which could further the frustration felt by Inter Miami.
When looking at players that could receive a booking for Inter Miami, there are a few standouts. Remarkably, six players in the squad have already received four yellow cards this season, accounting for 54% of the total cautions that Inter Miami have been shown this season. Of this group, Jordi Alba and Benjamin Cremaschi stand out as players that could be in the referee’s crosshairs here.
Predictions –
- Inter Miami to be shown the most cards
- Benjamin Cremaschi to be shown a card
- Jordi Alba to be shown a card
