Evan Ndicka: Roma’s Ivorian Rock at the Back

Roma host Fiorentina in an important battle in the race for a European finish in the Italian top flight. Claudio Ranieri’s side have found some form of late and enter this game unbeaten across their last six matches, including games against Lazio, Juventus, and Inter Milan. They currently sit one point and two places above Fiorentina. The away side may have one eye on their Conference League semi-final second leg tie against Real Betis midweek, but also come into this unbeaten in their last six Serie A fixtures.

Match Stats: Tight game in prospect

These sides have almost identical records in Serie A this season, which should produce a tight and cagey affair at times with European football on the line. Roma have won 11 of their 17 home games in the top flight this term, conceding just 14 goals, which is a record only bettered by Inter Milan.

Fiorentina have avoided defeat in 10 of their 16 away games in Serie A this season. Both sides enter this game on the back of six games undefeated in the Italian top flight, and neither should budge too easily, seeing as a loss for either would really hand the initiative to the opposition with just three games of the season remaining following this game.

Amir Richardson: Fiorentina’s New Midfield Metronome

The initial meeting between these sides ended in a 5-1 win for Fiorentina. This was at a low point in Roma’s season, and they also had a man sent off in the game halfway through the second half. We should see a slightly different game here, one that has fewer goals and a lot more nerves on the pitch. Lazio are ready to make the most of any slip-up, sitting between the sides with Juventus and Bologna far from confirmed as Italy’s European representatives next season.

Predictions –

  • Under 2.5 goals
  • Match Result – Draw

Shot Stats: Kean the danger man

Moise Kean has had an excellent season for Fiorentina, bouncing back from a few difficult loan spells to really find his feet under the tutelage of Raffaele Palladino.

Matías Soulé: The Heir to Ángel di María’s Throne?

Kean has scored 17 goals across his 29 Serie A appearances this season; only Mateo Retegui (24) has scored more goals than Kean in the Italian top flight this campaign. Kean’s record jumps to 23 goals across 40 appearances when looking at his record in all competitions, which is a steady return from the 25-year-old.

Kean had six shots in the initial meeting between the sides, four of which found the target and two ended up in the back of the net. He’s been in decent form over the last few months, scoring against AC Milan, Atalanta, and in the Conference League quarter finals.

Predictions –

  • Moise Kean 3+ shots
  • Moise Kean 2+ shots on target
  • Moise Kean to score anytime

Card Stats: Mandraroga the standout

Rolando Mandraroga has picked up six yellow cards in Serie A this season; only Dodo (7) has picked up more cautions for Fiorentina this season than the 27-year-old. He plays in the middle of the park, which is likely to be a congested area of the pitch, seeing as both sides like to play with three midfielders.

Moise Kean’s Redemption Season at Fiorentina

Mandraroga is averaging 0.97 fouls committed per 90 in Serie A this season. He’s picked up quite a few cautions recently, with three across his last five games, including in Fiorentina’s most recent Serie A fixture against Empoli.

Predictions:

  • Mandraroga 2+ fouls committed
  • Mandraroga to be shown a card
