Brest will be bidding to make it three wins on the bounce in Ligue 1 when they welcome Breton rivals Nantes to the Stade Francis-Le Ble on Saturday. After taking just one point from their opening four league games of the season, Eric Roy’s hosts have defeated both Nice and Angers across the last two weekends.

As for Nantes, they are currently residing in the relegation zone, having collected just five points from their first six league games.

Match Stats: Goals could be on the agenda in Brittany

It would be fair to say that Brest have been one of the great entertainers in Ligue 1 this season. Both teams have scored in four of the Pirates’ opening six league games of the season, with each of those four matches featuring over 2.5 goals. In fact, all bar one of those four contests broke the over 3.5 goal barrier, one of which was a 3-3 draw at this venue.

While goals were in short supply across Nantes’ first four Ligue 1 games of the season, that has not been the case in recent weeks, with each of the Canaries’ last two league games ending 2-2. With both teams capable in attack and neither defence watertight, goals at both ends looks well worthy of support at 1.8. On a similar line of reasoning to the above, over 2.5 goals also holds appeal at 1.91.

Given that Brest have hit multiple goals in each of their last two matches, a repeat here against what is a struggling Nantes side offers value at 1.91.

Predictions –

Both Teams to Score @ 1.8

Over 2.5 Goals @ 1.91

Over 1.5 Brest Goals @ 1.91

Shot Stats: In-form Brest winger offers value

Romain Del Castillo stands out for a minimum of one shot on target on Saturday evening at 1.5. The Brest winger has hit a rich vein of form in recent weeks, scoring in each of his last three outings in Ligue 1, chipping in with a couple of assists for good measure. It’s also worth noting that the 29-year-old has been on penalty kick duty for Brest this season, and that only adds to the appeal of backing him.

As for Nantes, Dehmaine Tabibou looks good value for 1+ shot here at 1.67. The 20-year old midfielder attempted two shots during his first start of the season last weekend. Tabibou has also registered an effort on goal in two of his five appearances as a substitute this term. If the Nantes midfielder is named in the starting XI on Saturday, then he certainly merits consideration in this particular market.

Brest have been posting high team shot counts in front of their own supporters this season, with the Pirates averaging north of 17 shots per home game thus far.

Predictions –

Romain Del Castillo 1+ shot on target @ 1.5

Dehmaine Tabibou 1+ shot @ 1.67

Foul Stats: Foul figures should rise in fiery affair

Brest and Nantes have been two of the more well behaved teams in Ligue 1 this season when it comes to committing fouls. The hosts have given away an average of 12.34 free-kicks per 90, while the visitors tally currently sits at 11.34 per game.

However, I would expect those averages to increase here given that there is little love lost between these two teams. Both sides were shown three yellow cards during last season’s corresponding fixture, while the reverse meeting featured a combined total of five yellow cards.

In terms of player-based selections to consider in regards to fouls, Nantes Tylel Tati is someone to keep an eye on. The 17-year-old defender has committed multiple fouls in each of his last four outings in Ligue 1, receiving a yellow card during a recent 2-2 draw with Rennes. As for Brest, Ludovic Ajorque has been a frequent offender this season, with the all-action striker averaging 2.19 fouls per 90 thus far.
