Lens welcome newly promoted Paris FC, who have made a steady start to the Ligue 1 campaign with three wins from their seven matches.

Lens have lost just two of their seven Ligue 1 matches so far this term and have won two of their three home games, setting up a competitive clash between these sides.

Match Stats: Expect Goals

Paris FC have come up with a mandate to entertain; their seven Ligue 1 matches so far have produced 25 goals (3.57 per game), with 13 of these goals coming across their four away matches (3.25 per game).

Paris FC are just as much of a threat as the opposition to maintain this high early-season goal count. The 12 goals they’ve scored so far are only eclipsed by four Ligue 1 sides, which is rare for a newly promoted side, with their main issue usually finding a consistent stream of goals.

Lens’ seven matches have produced a more modest 16 goals (2.28 per game), but I’d expect them to be dragged into a high-scoring affair by a Paris FC side that has seen BTTS in four of their last five matches.

Predictions –

  • BTTS @
  • Over 2.5 Goals @
  • Paris FC to score @

Shot Stats: Keep an eye on Simon and Kebbal

Paris FC’s wide players have really stood out to me in the early weeks of the season. Simon and Kebbal have combined for 10 goal contributions in Ligue 1 so far this season meaning that the pair have had a hand in 83% of the goals that Paris have scored in the French top flight so far.

Kebbal has been slightly more effective than Simon, with six goal contributions to Simon’s four, with Kebbal also currently acting as Paris’ leading scorer with four goals. Moses Simon has had 15 shots across his seven appearances for Paris FC in Ligue 1 (2.56 per 90), with five of these attempts finding the target (0.85 per 90).

Kebbal has been really clinical when chances have fallen his way, with 50% of his total attempts finding the target (16-8), and Kebbal has overachieved his xG of 2.55 to score four goals in Ligue 1 this season. He scored against Lorient just before the international break and has four goal contributions across his last five appearances for the high-flying newly promoted side.

Predictions

  • Moses Simon 2+ shots
  • Moses Simon 1+ shots on target
  • IIan Kebbal 1+ shots on target
  • IIan Kebbal to score/assist

Card Stats: Look to Lens for a high card count

Lens have received 15 yellow cards across their seven Ligue 1 matches so far this term (2.14 per game).

This is rare for a side that are performing pretty well in the French top flight and Paris’ record when it comes to drawing fouls and cards could see this average rise in this encounter.

Paris have drawn 2+ cards from their opponents in three of their seven matches this term with one of these matchups producing five yellow cards for their opponents.

They’ve won 10+ fouls in five of these matches which are records we can anticipate will rise here against a Lens side that has shown early signs of recklessness through their card count and foul average of 13.0 per game in this early stage of the campaign.

Predictions –

  • Lens 2+ cards
  • Lens 3+ cards
  • Lens 11+ fouls committed
  • Lens 12+ fouls committed
