High-flying Dortmund take on newly promoted Hamburg, who have slightly faltered in recent weeks after a strong start to their Bundesliga campaign.
A 12-point gap currently exists between the two sides in the Bundesliga, making Dortmund obvious favourites for this clash, and they’re priced at 1.7 to pick up the victory here.
Match Stats: Dortmund worth backing
Dortmund have won three of their five games on the road this season, so the 1.7 price currently available for them to register a victory against a newly promoted side looks well worth taking. Dortmund have only lost one of their five games on the road this term, which was a forgivable defeat against the best side in Europe at the moment – Bayern Munich.
Dortmund have netted nine goals across those games, which could be the scoring power that sets them apart from Hamburg here. Hamburg have a black and white record at home so far this term, winning two and losing two of their four home matches. They have carried an attacking threat in these matches with six goals scored, but they should ultimately struggle against the superior quality of Dortmund.
Marcel Sabitzer: The Austrian Engine in the Heart of Leipzig’s Midfield
Dortmund have only lost two games all season, both away matches against Bayern Munich and Manchester City. Niko Kovac has constructed a solid side which looks complete enough to claim a fourth win on the road in the Bundesliga this season, given their general stubbornness this campaign, unless they are facing one of the elite sides in Europe.
Predictions –
Dortmund to win @ 1.70
Dortmund 2+ goals scored @ 1.90
Over 1.5 Goals @ 1.20
Shots Stats: Guirassy still the main threat
It’s no exaggeration to say that Serhou Guirassy has been one of the best strikers in Europe over the last two seasons with back-to-back 30+ goal hauls for Stuttgart and Dortmund, including 13 goals in the Champions League last season – banishing suggestions that Guirassy is unable to perform at the very top level.
Guirassy has netted five goals across his eight Bundesliga appearances already this season with the 29-year-old having 23 shots across those matches (2.95 per 90). One of the most impressive aspects of Guirassy’s game is how many of his shots find the target. 16 have found the target so far this season (2.05 per 90), which is a shot accuracy of 70%.
Guirassy should have opportunities to build on these impressive metrics against a newly promoted side. Dortmund have been strong on the road so far in the Bundesliga, with three wins from their five away matches and nine goals scored across those games.
Predictions –
Serhou Guirassy to score anytime @ 1.80
Serhou Guirassy 3+ shots @ 1.66
Serhou Guirassy 2+ shots on target @ 2.0
Cards Stats: Hamburg pushing the boundaries
Hamburg have received the most red cards of any side in the Bundesliga this season (four) with the newly promoted side picking up 17 yellow cards, too.
Dortmund rank 14th for cards in the Bundesliga this season and are unlikely to be too aggressive here as they will dominate large periods of the game.
Hamburg’s aggressive side could come out here though. Dortmund have won 11 or more fouls in five of their nine matches in the Bundesliga this season. Dortmund have also drawn 16 cards from their opponents, with 2+ cards drawn landing in six of their nine matches this term.
Predictions –
Hamburg to be shown the most cards @ 2.25
Hamburg 2+ cards @ 1.44
Hamburg to be shown a red card @ 9.0
