Match Stats: Inter have momentum
Inter can move 12 points clear at the summit of Serie A with all three points here. The away side come into this game having won each of their last four matches, most recently coming back from 2-0 down to win 3-2 in the Coppa Italia semi-finals against Como.
Inter boast the strongest away record of any side in Serie A this season, having won 12 of their 16 matches on the road. They’ve scored 31 goals across these games, conceding only 14 – only Napoli (11) and Lazio (12) have conceded fewer goals on the road in the Italian top flight than Inter this season.
Inter have also won each of the last eight head-to-head meetings between the sides, most recently coming away 2-1 winners over Torino when the sides met in the Coppa Italia. Inter also thrashed Torino 5-0 when the sides last met in the league, further highlighting the distinct difference in quality between the two sides this season.
Predictions –
Inter to win @ 1.3
Inter 2+ goals @ 1.44
Inter -1 handicap @ 2.0
Shot Stats: Value with Torino
The majority of Inter’s players are really short for shots here, even Bastoni – a centre back – is priced at 1.33 for a single shot in this encounter, so I think it’s better to look for the value in Torino’s squad.
Despite losing both head-to-head meetings between the sides this season, Torino still have managed to come away with decent shot counts in both games. They managed 12 shots in their 5-0 loss to Inter in the league, and reached double digits again with 11 shots in their Coppa Italia defeat to the league leaders.
Che Adams and Vlasic both stand out to me from the Torino squad for a few shots here. Both are priced around 1.80-1.83 for 2+ shots in this clash, which is always a generous price point for forwards to take on a few efforts. Vlasic had three shots when the sides faced off in the Coppa Italia, while Adams came off the bench to have 2+ shots in Torino’s 5-0 loss to Inter in the league.
Predictions –
Torino 10+ shots @ 2.00
Che Adams 2+ shots @ 1.80
Nikola Vlasic 2+ shots @ 1.83
Card Stats: Modest tally expected
There were zero match cards in Inter’s 5-0 demolition of Torino in the league earlier in the season, which is probably due to how one-sided the game was on that occasion. The cup tie did produce four cards, three of which were shown to Inter, which is quite interesting – you’d usually expect the dominant side to end up with the lower card count.
I wouldn’t back team cards for either side here, as there is a chance that Inter could run away with this game again, taking away any edge from the contest. I’d focus more on player cautions, with the matchup between the two midfields standing out to me. Torino’s midfield is home to two of their most cautioned players this season in Vlasic (7) and Casadei (5).
Inter’s midfield is often the toughest part of their setup to deal with; they’re really mobile and are tough to stop without hauling them to the ground. Casadei, in particular, could find this mobility hard to manage as a player who is quite bullish and not the quickest when reacting to the subtle movement of this Inter midfield trio.
Predictions –
Cesare Casadei to be shown a card @ 3.5
Nikola Vlasic to be shown a card @ 3.0
