Erling Haaland On Course for Another Record-Breaking Season

Manchester City striker Erling Haaland had a sensational debut season in the Premier League in the 2022/23 campaign, scoring 36 goals in the English league and 52 goals in all competitions. The Norwegian is on course to better those tallies in the latest season.

 

 

Despite one or two injury concerns, Haaland has scored 13 Premier League goals during his opening 12 games. His side are top of the Premier League standings going into the international break in November and they have not put a foot wrong in Europe.

 

Haaland has shown he is the complete centre forward this season, with goals coming from both feet and with his head in the air. He has attracted strong praise from his manager Pep Guardiola for his work rate on and off the pitch.

 

More Silverware Looks Set to Follow

 

Defending champions Manchester City are the odds-on favourites at 2/5 when online betting with Rhino.bet in the football outright markets to win the Premier League this season. With Haaland continuing to be in hot form in front of goal, City’s rivals may struggle to keep up the pace with Guardiola’s side.

City were denied all three points in that game due to a 95th-minute equaliser from their former player Cole Palmer.

Guardiola’s Side Creating a Lot of Chances for Haaland

 

City lost Riyad Mahrez and Ilkay Gundogan during the summer, two key players from last season’s treble-winning team. However, the loss of those midfielders has not impacted them going forward, as they still have been able to create a lot of chances for their striker.

 

 

What has arguably been most impressive about Haaland’s start to the season is that it has come without the services of Kevin de Bruyne. The Belgium international picked up a hamstring injury in the opening Premier League game of the season against Burnley, as reported by Reuters in their summary of the game. He is not expected to return to the squad until the final weeks of 2024.

 

Despite speculation about his future, City were able to retain the services of Bernardo Silva during the summer. He is a player that has created a great partnership with Haaland. The Portuguese player has three Premier League assists already this season and he should continue to create chances when in the team.

 

Haaland will be in action for Norway in games against the Faroe Islands and Scotland during the international window. When he returns to domestic football, he will be hoping to keep up the excellent start he has made to the season, particularly over a busy festive period for the Premier League champions.
