Valentin Rosier: Osasuna’s Diamond in the Rough

Osasuna will be looking to pull off one of the shocks of the 2025/26 LaLiga season on Saturday when they travel to Atlético Madrid, and they’ll be counting on Valentin Rosier to come in clutch and deliver the goods in defense. Whilst the main texas sweepstakes casino options are tipping Atleti for victory, Osasuna have proven a tough nut to crack in the first few weeks, and they could pose some serious issues thanks to the stalwart displays of their new defensive signing.

“Osasuna wanted me a lot, and for me, that is important,” stated Rosier in an exclusive RG interview. “Also, I love LaLiga and playing in Spain. My first game with Leganés was at Osasuna, and I felt like it was a family atmosphere. When I was talking with the director, we had a good understanding with one another. It was a good offer, so for me, it checked all the boxes to sign with them.”

Born in Montauban, Tarn-et-Garonne, of Guadeloupean, Malagasy and Italian descent, Rosier started his career with fourth-tier side Rodez AF before making the move to Ligue 1 side Dijon, where he emerged as a vital cog on the right side of defense. These performances attracted the attention of Portuguese heavyweights Sporting, who signed him to the club for a fee of €7.5 million and the exchange of Mama Baldé to Dijon.

However, Rosier struggled with injuries and inconsistency during his lone year in Lisbon, prompting him to leave for Istanbul and join Beşiktaş. He didn’t take long to make an impact, leading them to the Süper Lig title and the Turkish Cup and Turkish Super Cup in 2021 and making it to the Süper Lig Team of the 2020/21 Season. Eventually, however, Rosier was excluded from the squad along with Vincent Aboubakar, Eric Bailly, Rachid Ghezzal and Jean Onana, prompting him to be loaned out to Ligue 1 side Nice in January 2024.

“When you are at Beşiktaş, you live life like you’re a king. You have your own driver, when you go out, everyone wants to take a picture with you, and the matchday atmosphere thanks to such a big fanbase…you feel like you’re important. When I signed, I didn’t know much about the level in Türkiye I thought it might be a bit easy, but it wasn’t, and you see that whenever Galatasaray plays Manchester United or another big team, they play well. It was a very nice experience.”

He struggled for minutes in the Allianz Riviera before moving to Leganés in the summer of 2024, where he became an indispensable figure in defense. Whilst he was unable to help the Pepineros stave off relegation, Rosier nevertheless delivered and proved to be a crucial presence at the back, prompting Osasuna to sign him on a free transfer.

“Osasuna fans want a player who will fight for the club and play with their heart, who will defend well, and that’s what I like to do on the pitch,” stated Rosier. “I’m not the best, but I play with my heart. I fight for every single game, I don’t like to lose, and I think I will provide something a little different with my style on the pitch, my qualities and personality. I’ve improved more tactically than technically in recent years, I know how to make the pass, when to release it, whether to run or not, whether to cross or not. No matter what my age is, I work, train and do the same stuff, but now I have more experience and control myself more. And as long as my body keeps telling me I can play, I will play.”

After playing the full 90 in Osasuna’s first four matches, Rosier was sent off before halftime in a 2-1 defeat at Villarreal. However, after serving his suspension, he went straight back into the starting XI, playing 83 minutes in a 2-0 loss at Real Betis, before lasting the entirety in their match vs. Getafe. After falling behind early on, Osasuna managed to hold on and equalize before halftime, before taking the lead in the 90th minute to secure a 2-1 win. Rosier proved vital with five clearances, in addition to winning three out of four aerial duels.
