Rangers Return to Ibrox This Saturday – Now Is the Time for the Fans to Get Behind the Team
After Rangers’ humiliating 3-0 loss to Celtic, the mood around Ibrox has been toxic to say the least. The last two weeks there has been a barrage of criticism and negativity aimed towards the board, the manager and the players.
There was big pressure on Philippe Clement and the team to get a result against Dundee United on Sunday, and they did just that as they picked up the three points defeating Jim Goodwin’s men 1-0 in what was a comfortable afternoon for the Light Blues.
It wasn’t a blockbuster performance but the Ibrox club never looked like conceding and there were plenty of positives to take from the game. One in particular was Hamza Igamane’s display when he came on in the second half. He looks like a player who will fit in the side nicely.
John Souttar was very solid at the back and goal scorer Tom Lawrence had his best game in a Rangers shirt in months. Make no mistake about it, if Rangers had dropped points at Tannadice it would have been catastrophic. But for the first time in a long time, there seems to be a bit more positivity within the club.
Rangers will be making their long-awaited return to Ibrox this Saturday to face Dundee in the Viaplay League Cup quarter-final. The whole stadium situation was an embarrassment for the club and having to play your home games at Hampden really didn’t go down well with the supporters.
After a difficult month, it feels like Rangers’ season is finally beginning. There are some big games coming up after Dundee as Clement’s men will be facing Malmo in the Europa League, Hibs at home and Lyon at home – the games are coming thick and fast. Now is the time for the Rangers supporters to get behind the manager and the team as this season is as important as the season Rangers stopped Celtic’s ten in a row.
