New York Red Bulls will likely build on their impressive home form in the MLS this season when they welcome Inter Miami over the weekend. Sandro Schwarz’s side boast one of the best home records in the Eastern Conference, having won eight of their 11 home games this term.

Inter Miami’s focus will be on making up ground on the other top sides in the Eastern Conference following their participation in the Club World Cup. They’ve won three of their four games since they’ve come back from the competition and have seen 3+ goals in each of these fixtures.

Match Stats: NY Red Bulls strong at home

This should be quite an exciting match, and one that Inter Miami will feel they need to win to maintain pace with their rivals at the top of the Eastern Conference. Both teams have been involved in high-scoring games recently, suggesting an open and entertaining contest.

Inter Miami’s matches have been full of goals since their return from the Club World Cup, with over 2.5 goals scored in all four of their most recent fixtures. Additionally, both teams have found the net (BTTS) in three of those games, highlighting their attacking intent and occasional defensive vulnerabilities. Lionel Messi’s influence, alongside Luis Suárez, has been pivotal, but Miami’s backline has struggled to keep clean sheets, conceding in seven of their last ten matches across all competitions.

Meanwhile, the New York Red Bulls have also been involved in entertaining encounters, with both teams scoring in four of their last five outings. Their home games, in particular, have been goal-laden this season, with a total of 43 goals scored across their 11 matches at Red Bull Arena – an average of nearly four per game. This trend suggests that Miami’s attacking stars will find opportunities, but the Red Bulls’ own forward line will also fancy their chances against a Miami defense that has looked shaky at times.

With both teams in strong offensive form but inconsistent at the back, this clash could deliver plenty of goalmouth action. The Red Bulls will look to exploit their home advantage, where they’ve been prolific, while Miami’s firepower ensures they remain a constant threat. Expect an end-to-end battle with goals at both ends

Predictions –

  • BTTS @ 1.4
  • Over 2.5 goals @ 1.5.

Shot Stats: Messi is still a real danger

Lionel Messi has long been the main man for Inter Miami, but he’s taken that role to new heights recently, scoring six goals in his last four matches – a staggering return that underscores his dominance in MLS. With 28 goal contributions in just 28 appearances this season, Messi continues to operate at a level far beyond most of the league.

A closer look at his shot metrics reveals just how relentless he is in attack. Messi is averaging 5.35 shots per 90 minutes in MLS, constantly testing defenses with his movement and precision. Of those attempts, 2.36 shots per 90 hit the target, demonstrating both his volume and efficiency in threatening the opposition’s goal. Whether cutting inside from the right, linking up with Luis Suárez, or unleashing from distance, Messi remains one of the most lethal shooters in the league.

Given his current form, the New York Red Bulls’ defense will need to be at their sharpest to limit his influence. However, with Messi’s ability to create chances out of nothing – and his willingness to shoot from almost any angle – keeping him quiet for 90 minutes will be a monumental task. Expect him to be at the heart of Inter Miami’s attacking play once again, with his shot volume and accuracy likely to play a decisive role in the outcome.

Predictions –

Lionel Messi to score anytime @ 1.6

Lionel Messi 2+ shots on target @ 1.5

Lionel Messi 4+ shots @ 1.4

Card Stats: Red Bulls more likely to see red

The most recent head-to-head meeting between these sides saw Inter Miami run out 4-1 winners, with three cards being produced in the game. New York Red Bulls picked up two of these cautions after Inter Miami had received an early yellow card.

New York Red Bulls sit in the top five across both conferences in the MLS when it comes to yellow cards this season. They’ve collected 52 cautions across their 23 games this season (2.26 per game).

When considering individual players who could pick up a booking here, Noah Elie stands out as a player who could test the patience of the referee. He’s received seven yellow cards this season for the New York Red Bulls, which is more than any other player in the squad.

Predictions –

  • New York Red Bulls to be shown the most cards @ 2.0
  • Noah Elie to be shown a card @ 3.75
