Match Stats: Ancelotti's perfect start meets a shaky PSG

Lille couldn't have asked for a smoother start to the Ancelotti era, winning 2-0 away at Angers on opening weekend through an 11th-minute Olivier Giroud strike and a Tiago Santos follow-up before the break.

That extends a strong home-opener record for Les Dogues, who've won their first Ligue 1 game at Stade Pierre-Mauroy in four straight seasons, and they haven't lost a top-flight home fixture in August since PSG themselves put seven past them back in 2022.

PSG's title defence got off to a shakier start. They trailed 2-0 at Rennes before Ferran Torres came off the bench to score twice in eleven second-half minutes to rescue a 2-2 draw.

That followed a Trophée des Champions defeat to Lens in which Nuno Mendes saw red, ruling the left-back out here through suspension.

There's also a genuine team-news cloud over Luis Enrique's front line, with Ousmane Dembélé and Désiré Doué both considered doubts for Friday, leaving a reshaped attack leaning heavily on Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Torres.

PSG haven't kept a clean sheet in any of their last four competitive outings, and history is firmly on the goals side of this fixture. PSG have scored three or more in seven of their last nine meetings with Lille, and Both Teams to Score has landed in the vast majority of recent head-to-heads between the pair.

Predictions -

Both Teams to Score @ 6/10
Over 2.5 Goals @ 13/20

Shots Stats: Torres and Giroud in the shop window

With Doué's involvement in doubt, Kvaratskhelia becomes an even bigger creative focal point.

He set up the winner in the Super Cup victory over Aston Villa and looks nailed on to start, regardless of how Luis Enrique reshuffles things further forward.

Torres, meanwhile, is pushing hard for his first PSG start after that eye-catching Rennes cameo, becoming the first Parisian to score twice on debut for the club since Zlatan Ibrahimović back in 2012 against a Lille defence that shipped 11 shots on target across last season's two league meetings with PSG; the underlying numbers favour him getting involved again.

At the other end, Giroud remains the fulcrum of everything Lille do in the final third, and he needed just 11 minutes to get off the mark for the season against Angers.

At 39, he's still leading the line as Lille's out-and-out No.9, and with PSG's makeshift backline missing its first-choice left-back, there's a route to him testing the goalkeeper early doors again.

Predictions -

Ferran Torres 2+ Shots On Target @ 5/6
Olivier Giroud Anytime Goalscorer @ 12/5
