Terms of Use

These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the Breaking The Lines platform ("BTL", "we", "us", "our"), including the website at breakingthelines.com, the Studio creator tools, and all related services (collectively, the "Platform").

By accessing or using the Platform, you agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, you may not use the Platform.

We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the Platform after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms. Material changes will be notified via email or in-app notice at least 30 days before taking effect.

To access certain features, you must create an account. You agree to provide accurate, current, and complete information during registration and to update it as necessary.

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity under your account. Notify us immediately at hello@breakingthelines.com if you suspect unauthorised access.

You must be at least 13 years old to create an account. If you are under 18, you represent that you have parental or guardian consent.

You own your content. Creators retain full copyright and intellectual property rights to all content they create and publish on the Platform, including articles, videos, podcasts, newsletters, and thoughts. For content created collaboratively within a Squad, copyright belongs to the contributing creators unless otherwise agreed between Squad members.

By publishing content on BTL, you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, display, distribute, and promote your content on the Platform and through our marketing channels (such as social media and RSS feeds). This licence also permits us to use your content to operate, improve, and personalise Platform features, including search, recommendations, trending, and creator discovery. This licence exists solely to operate and improve the Platform.

You may remove your content at any time. Upon removal, the display licence terminates, though cached or archived copies may persist briefly due to technical processes.

You represent that you have the right to publish all content you submit and that it does not infringe any third party's rights.

You agree not to use the Platform to:

• Violate any applicable law or regulation
• Publish content that is defamatory, obscene, harassing, threatening, or that promotes violence or discrimination
• Infringe on intellectual property rights of others
• Impersonate any person or entity, or misrepresent your affiliation with any person or entity
• Transmit viruses, malware, or any code designed to disrupt or damage the Platform
• Scrape, crawl, or use automated means to access the Platform beyond what is permitted by our robots.txt or API terms
• Circumvent any access controls, paywalls, or metering mechanisms
• Use the Platform for spam, phishing, or unsolicited commercial communications

We reserve the right to remove content and suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, at our sole discretion.

BTL offers free and paid membership tiers. Paid memberships ("Pro" and "Line Breakers") are billed on a recurring monthly or annual basis through our payment processor, Stripe.

By subscribing, you authorise us to charge the applicable fees to your chosen payment method. Prices are listed in USD, GBP, and EUR and include applicable taxes where required.

Free trial. New Pro subscribers receive a 7-day free trial. You will not be charged during the trial period. If you do not cancel before the trial ends, your subscription will automatically convert to a paid plan.

Cancellation. You may cancel your subscription at any time from your account settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period. You retain access until then, plus a 3-day grace period. We do not offer prorated refunds for partial billing periods.

We may change subscription pricing with at least 30 days' notice. Price changes apply from your next billing cycle.

Eligible creators may monetise their content through subscriber-funded channels. Revenue from creator subscriptions is split between the creator and BTL according to the creator's subscription tier.

Platform fees are deducted at source. Payment processing fees (charged by Stripe) are separate and apply to all transactions. Creators receive their share via Stripe Connect payouts.

You are responsible for any taxes owed on your earnings. BTL does not withhold taxes on your behalf unless required by law. We may provide tax-related documentation (e.g., earnings summaries) to assist with your obligations.

Payout schedules and minimum thresholds are detailed in your Studio dashboard. We reserve the right to withhold payouts in cases of suspected fraud, chargebacks, or Terms violations pending investigation.

The Platform, including its design, code, branding, logos, and original editorial content, is owned by Breaking The Lines Ltd and protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.

You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works from any part of the Platform without our prior written consent, except as expressly permitted by these Terms or applicable law (e.g., fair use, quotation with attribution).

Your use of the Platform is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which describes how we collect, use, and protect your personal data. By using the Platform, you consent to the practices described in the Privacy Policy.

You may close your account at any time by contacting us at hello@breakingthelines.com or through your account settings.

We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms, engage in harmful behaviour, or if required by law. We will endeavour to provide notice before termination, except where immediate action is necessary (e.g., serious abuse, legal obligation).

Upon termination, your right to use the Platform ceases. Content you published may be retained briefly for technical or legal purposes before deletion.

The Platform is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

We do not guarantee that the Platform will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components. User-generated content reflects the views of its authors, not necessarily those of BTL.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, BTL's total liability to you for any claims arising from your use of the Platform shall not exceed the amounts you have paid to us in the twelve months preceding the claim.

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.

If any provision of these Terms is held to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect.

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. Material changes will be communicated via email or prominent in-app notice at least 30 days before taking effect. Your continued use of the Platform after changes become effective constitutes acceptance.
