Match Stats: Inter Miami have serious Scoring Power

Montreal have been poor on the road so far this term, winning just one of their nine away matches - 11 of the 15 points they’ve picked up this season have come in front of their own fans, so it’s clear that they’ll have to make the most of their home games for this to be a successful campaign.

They welcome an Inter Miami side who are once again battling at the top of the Eastern Conference, sitting five points behind league leaders Nashville ahead of this game. Their matches have been typically high scoring, with 16 games producing 72 goals (4.5 per game).

Inter Miami scored 4+ goals in both head-to-head meetings between the sides last year, with both teams to score also landing in both of those games. Inter Miami will feel confident enough to outscore Montreal again here, having netted more goals on the road than any other side in the Eastern Conference (23 - 2.55 per game).

Predictions

Both Teams to Score @ 1.60
Over 2.5 Goals @ 1.40
Inter Miami to Win @ 2.10
Inter Miami 2+ Goals @ 2.0

Shots Stats: Suarez and Berterame to fill in for Messi

Lionel Messi is normally the main figure in this Inter Miami side, but they’ll be without him for a few weeks at least as he recovers following Argentina’s run to the final of the World Cup.

Luis Suarez and German Berterame will lead the line for Inter Miami in Messi’s absence and look to be an effective pairing with 20 goal contributions between them so far this season.

That’s only one goal contribution ahead of Messi’s individual total, which shows the impact that he has on this side. Inter Miami did manage to score three goals in their most recent game following the World Cup break, with both Suarez and Berterame registering goal contributions.

Predictions

Luis Suarez to Score or Assist @ 1.70
German Berterame to Score or Assist @ 1.80
Luis Suarez 2+ Shots on Target @ 2.50

Cards Stats: Inter Miami are deceptively aggressive

Both of these sides rank within the top five sides in the MLS when it comes to cautions, with Inter Miami actually collecting the 2nd-most yellow cards of any side across the two conferences (43 - 2.68 per game).

It’s quite rare for a side that’s as dominant as Inter Miami to have such a high card count, especially as their foul count is pretty modest (13.0 fouls per game).

This tells us that the challenges that Inter Miami do make tend to be cynical, and they may have to give away tactical fouls here against a side that is likely to mainly operate in transition.

Montreal sit 4th for yellow cards in the MLS this season, picking up five fewer than their opponents here. They’ve also notably had two red cards across those matches.

Predictions

Both Teams to be Shown a Card @ 1.40
Both Teams to be Shown 2+ Cards Each @ 1.83
