eFootball 2025 Licenses: Which Serie A Teams Are Included?
eFootball has become Konami’s free football game for some time now, but what Serie A teams can we expect to find within it?
The football gaming world has long seen a rivalry between Electronic Arts, with its EA Sports FC (formerly FIFA), and Konami with its eFootball (formerly ISS and PES). Over the years, the Japanese company has adopted a very different approach, discontinuing annual releases and instead launching a persistent free game that updates season by season, focused on online play.
This also means that licenses are handled a bit differently than in the past, with clubs coming and going. However, for Serie A, eFootball 2025 will still feature some top-tier clubs.
eFootball: Which Serie A Teams Are There?
Konami holds exclusive partnerships with four major Serie A clubs:
- AC Milan
- Atalanta BC
- Inter Milan
- SS Lazio
These clubs are represented exclusively on eFootball, with their real names, logos, and stadiums. They cannot appear in EA Sports FC or other competitors due to the exclusive agreement between the clubs and Konami.
Napoli and Roma have exited Konami’s partnerships and moved to Electronic Arts. Additionally, there is no longer any reference to a deal with Monza.
It’s also worth noting that the absence of club licenses doesn’t mean the absence of their players from the database, as player representation rights are managed through FIFPro, separate from club deals.
Unlicensed clubs appear in the game with made-up names, without their logos, kits, or stadiums. For example, Juventus is called “Piemonte” in eFootball.
How to Get Started in eFootball
eFootball is available on PC and home consoles, and to fully experience its online features, it’s essential to create an account and complete your bet login on the platform. This ensures you’re able to enjoy all the competitive elements and participate in ranked matches with other players.
Whether you’re playing solo or competing against others, understanding the licensing landscape of eFootball 2025 will give you insight into what teams, players, and stadiums are available in the game.
In addition to games like eFootball, a similar licensing system is used in instant virtuals betting games from Leap Gaming. These virtual sports games, popular among Nigerian bettors, feature clubs and players with altered names and logos to simulate real-life leagues, while maintaining the core mechanics of betting on match outcomes. For example, well-known teams may be renamed and given fictional badges, but the gameplay remains true to traditional football matches. This system allows players to enjoy the excitement of betting on virtual football events around the clock, even when live matches are unavailable.
League Licenses
eFootball does not have the license for the official Serie A name and logo, so the Italian league appears as “Campionato Italiano” in the game. However, it does have the license for Italy’s second division, Serie BKT.
The competitions featured, licensed or not (you can tell from the official name or the lack thereof), include:
