Venezia and Cremonese will meet in the final of the Serie B play-offs, with the winner to be rewarded with the prize of top-flight football next season. This is the second leg of the tie following Thursday’s scoreless draw in Cremona where despite the home side dominating in terms of shots, it was a tight affair with little to choose between the teams as they combined for a total of just 1.3 xG. Here is the best advice for your Venezia v Cremonese Bet Builder.
Match stats: Venezia in pole position
Venezia are the favourites going into the match due to their strong home record. From their last 10 home fixtures in Serie B, they have picked up eight victories, including a 2-1 win over Cremonese at the end of April.
Their opponents, on the other hand, have not travelled well. While they are undefeated in six matches overall, they have won only one of their last six away from home, albeit the last four of these have been against clubs that finished in the top five of the table.
Another factor to consider is the age and, therefore, probable energy levels of these clubs. Cremonese had five outfield starters aged 31 or over in Thursday’s draw, four of whom played the whole match, and bouncing back a few days later may prove a big physical challenge.
With this in mind, the home side are well priced at 2.25 to get the victory and are also attractive to win or draw at 1.33 on the Double Chance market. While Cremonese have typically produced Over 2.5 goals, including a 2-2 draw with Catanzaro in the previous round of the play-offs, Venezia have been altogether more conservative and goals should not be considered a certainty.
The hosts’ last three games have produced just four goals in total, while only one of their last 10 has seen more than three goals scored. However, over this period, 2-1 has been a common scoreline with five of their previous eight matches ending in this, four times in favour of the Venetians.
Venezia are priced at 9.0 to record another 2-1 win, while the game is priced at 1.83 to finish with three or more goals. It’s also interesting to note that none of the three fixtures between these sides this season have produced more than 2 xG.
There were 14 corners in the initial game, but that was an uncharacteristically high figure for these clubs. Venezia’s tally of six was the highest they have managed in six outings, while Cremonese’s eight was the most they have mustered in their previous nine.
Prediction: Venezia to win @ 2.25
Shooting stats: Pohjanpalo the dangerman
While there were no goals in the first leg, there were plenty of shots on goal, particularly from Cremonese, who forced Venezia keeper Jesse Joronen into 11 saves.

Defensive midfielder Cristian Buonaiuto was particularly eager to shoot on sight for Cremonese, with five shots in total, including four on target. Massimo Coda fired four efforts at goal which saw him test the keeper on two occasions.
By contrast, Venezia’s efforts were more evenly spread. Nicholas Pierini mustered up three attempts with one on target, as Joel Pohjanpalo and Tanner Tessman worked the keeper once each.
Pohjanpalo will be the main goal threat, having struck 0.73 times per 90 over the course of the Serie B season. Late in the game, though, look for Christian Gytkjaer to make an impact. He has scored 0.55 times per 90 and netted from a pass delivered by his Finnish counterpart when the sides last met. The dangerous pair have combined for 33 of Venezia’s 69 goals this season.
Coda is the runaway threat that Cremonese carry with 16 goals this season, including three in his last five appearances. The last time he found the net away from home, though, was way back on February 3 against Calcio Lecco.
In addition, Luca Ravanelli and Franco Vazquez both scored against Venezia earlier this season, but are far from regular scorers. The pair have netted three goals each for the season, having both played over 2000 league minutes.
